Bo’s journey to recovery was shaped by a lifetime of experience with addiction, first as a child growing up in a home where alcoholism was present, and later through his own battle with substance use. Despite reaching the highest levels of professional success in the medical device industry, titles, recognition, and financial achievement were never enough to overcome addiction on their own. Today, Bo lives in sustained recovery, guided by honesty, accountability, and the strongest “why”, his daughters.

From Rock Bottom to Solid Ground

Recovery Built on Honesty

Bo was raised in Southern Virginia in a family where alcoholism was present from an early age. Exposure to substance use shaped his understanding of addiction long before it became a personal struggle, ultimately contributing to a cycle he would later need to confront directly.

He entered the medical device industry early in his career, where alcohol was often embedded in professional culture and relationship building. Over years of advancement and external success, drinking gradually became normalized and increasingly intertwined with his work life. Believing that environment played a critical role in recovery, he entered sobriety and chose to leave his position in pursuit of lasting change.

Despite this decision, similar cultural expectations followed him into subsequent roles. Professional achievement continued, yet the underlying struggle with alcohol persisted. He eventually attained a position widely regarded as a career milestone, but titles, recognition, and financial success proved insufficient to overcome addiction on their own. Multiple attempts at sobriety followed, reinforcing the complexity of substance use disorder and the limitations of willpower alone.

His true turning point came when his daughters made it clear that they would not continue a relationship with him unless he committed fully to sobriety. This moment prompted a direct and honest reckoning with the personal, familial, and emotional consequences of addiction and clarified what was truly at stake.

Today, he is in sustained recovery and lives with intention, accountability, and integrity. He is firmly committed to sobriety and to contributing his experience to recovery-focused efforts that emphasize honesty, structure, and long-term support. His leadership is shaped by the lessons of addiction and recovery, grounded in humility and consistency, and guided and disciplined by the strongest “why.”
